Lawson Launches JPYC Stablecoin Payment Pilot in Early August

According to FN News, Japanese convenience store chain Lawson will launch a JPYC (Japanese yen-pegged stablecoin) payment pilot in early August at its Gateway City store in Tokyo in partnership with digital asset wallet provider Hashport. The trial will enable customers to make purchases using smartphone-based electronic wallets. This marks Japan's first integration of stablecoin payments with a POS system, allowing transaction data such as item quantities and payment timestamps to be directly integrated into the store's existing management system.
