Lebanese President Aoun Meets Syrian Foreign Minister on July 2, Emphasizes Non-Interference

According to Lebanese National News Agency, Lebanese President Aoun met with Syrian transitional government Foreign Minister Hibani in Beirut on July 2. Aoun stated that Lebanon seeks to establish bilateral relations with Syria based on cooperation, coordination, and mutual non-interference in internal affairs. He reaffirmed Lebanon's commitment to Syria's stability and called for Israel to withdraw from Lebanese and Syrian territories to promote regional peace. Aoun welcomed the establishment of a Lebanon-Syria joint committee and acknowledged coordination progress in border security, including efforts against weapons and drug smuggling. Hibani expressed Syria's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and rejected military intervention, emphasizing support for dialogue to resolve regional issues.
