According to Jefferies and Stephens analysts, Marvell (MRVL), a semiconductor chipmaker, is widely expected to join the S&P 500 index in Friday's quarterly adjustment. As of Wednesday's close, Marvell's market cap stood at approximately $264 billion, far exceeding the second-ranked candidate Bloom Energy at $82 billion. The stock surged nearly 5% on Thursday, with year-to-date gains exceeding 200%. This marks the company's third bid for index inclusion after being passed over in two previous quarterly reviews despite meeting profitability and valuation criteria.
