According to Mastercard, the company has been granted a New York State BitLicense in 2026, advancing its long-term strategy to support digital currencies such as stablecoins and tokenized deposits. Mastercard Chief Product Officer Jorn Lambert said the approval demonstrates the firm's commitment to aligning innovation with regulatory standards for security, compliance, and risk management. New York has now officially granted three BitLicenses in 2026, including GalaxyOne Prime and Zap Solutions, with approximately 40 issued since the program's launch in 2015. The BitLicense, known for its stringent requirements, has become a significant barrier for crypto startups entering New York's market.
