Micron Plunges 7.74% on June 4 as Analyst Warns DRAM, NAND Prices May Peak in Mid-2026

MU-1.74%
DRAM-4.98%
According to Barron's, Raymond James analyst Karl Ackerman warned on June 4 that DRAM and NAND average selling prices may peak in mid-2026, earlier than mainstream market expectations. The warning triggered Micron (MU) to plummet 7.74% to $996 per share, erasing $94.24 billion in market value—the company's largest single-day loss on record. Ackerman projects both DRAM and NAND prices will decline for two consecutive quarters starting in early 2027, driven by supply pressures from Chinese chipmakers expanding production and weakening demand outside the AI sector, with global smartphone shipments expected to drop 14% this year.
