Microsoft Unveils MAI-Code-1-Flash and MAI-Thinking-1 Models to Challenge OpenAI

According to CNBC, Microsoft unveiled MAI-Code-1-Flash, a coding model, and MAI-Thinking-1, a reasoning model, at its Build developer conference in San Francisco on June 2. MAI-Thinking-1 matches leading models on software engineering benchmarks and was trained without distillation from third-party models. MAI-Code-1-Flash, designed for inference efficiency, is integrated into GitHub Copilot and Visual Studio Code, while MAI-Thinking-1 is available in private preview through Microsoft Foundry, Azure's AI platform.
