Mirae Asset Closes $102 Million Korbit Acquisition on July 9, Rebrands as Digital X

According to Korean Herald, Mirae Asset Consulting closed its acquisition of Korbit on July 9 after South Korea's Fair Trade Commission approved the deal. The company raised its stake to 97.15%, completing an investment worth approximately 141.4 billion won, or roughly $102 million. Regulators found the acquisition unlikely to restrict competition, citing Korbit's roughly 0.5% share of Korea's crypto trading market in 2025.

Korbit is being rebranded as Digital X as part of Mirae Asset 3.0, a strategy to integrate real-world asset tokenization, stablecoins and traditional securities on a single platform. The company said Digital X will function as an "intelligent investment platform" combining research, investor education and institutional-grade compliance systems.
