According to Niger’s National Communication Authority chairman Ibrahim Manzo Diallo, the country suspended approximately 10 French media outlets on May 8 over concerns about content endangering public order, national unity, social cohesion, and the stability of state institutions. Diallo stated that the suspended media outlets had repeatedly broadcast material deemed potentially harmful to these critical national interests.
