Nvidia CEO Huang Calls Black Market Data Centers Made of Smuggled Parts a 'Dead End'

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang told shareholders on Wednesday (June 24) that if a commercial opportunity conflicts with U.S. national security, the company would prioritize American interests. Huang stated that companies attempting to smuggle Nvidia chips into countries with export restrictions such as China would face challenges, as Nvidia would not provide support or repairs. "Advanced AI data centers are massive integrated systems that require trusted hardware, software, networking, and continuing support," Huang said. "Trying to cobble together data centers with some smuggled products is a dead end." His remarks reflect Washington's increasing scrutiny of AI chip and software exports to China and other nations viewed as security threats.
