Nvidia CEO Says China Shouldn't Have Advanced Chips But U.S. Should Allow Competition on May 5

According to Nikkei Asia, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said on May 5 that China “should not have” the most advanced chips, but the U.S. should allow Nvidia to compete in the Chinese market. He noted that export restrictions have reduced Nvidia’s share in China’s AI accelerator market to zero, while Chinese technology is maturing and may compete globally. Huang argued that for the U.S. to maintain AI leadership, it should let global developers build on American technology rather than cede important markets through export controls.
