Nvidia Commits $6.5 Billion to Photonics Firms Since March to Solve AI Data Center Bottlenecks

According to BlockBeats, Nvidia has committed at least $6.5 billion to photonics and optical networking companies since March as of May 30, 2026, to address data transmission and energy consumption bottlenecks in AI data centers.

The investments include $2 billion each to Lumentum, Coherent, and Marvell, $500 million to Corning for optical interconnect systems research, and participation in a $500 million Series E funding round for photonics startup Ayar Labs.
