According to sources, Greg Brockman, OpenAI's president and co-founder, officially assumed responsibility for the company's most important and profitable projects on Thursday after Fidji Simo stepped down from her role as product and business chief due to chronic illness. Simo, a former Meta executive and ex-CEO of Instacart, will transition to a part-time advisor position.
Brockman will oversee ChatGPT's product business, go-to-market teams, enterprise teams, and compute initiatives, reporting directly to CEO Sam Altman. The move comes as OpenAI, valued at $852 billion, prepares for a prospective IPO expected next year and faces intensifying competition from rivals including Anthropic and Google.
