According to Guru Club, precious metals prices declined today (July 28) as market expectations for a potential Federal Reserve rate hike during its upcoming policy meeting intensified. The U.S. dollar index surged to its highest level in about a month, directly suppressing gold and silver prices quoted in dollars, according to analysts from Jinrui Futures and Huishang Futures.

Market participants reduced their directional positions ahead of the Fed meeting due to high uncertainty about the outcome, triggering profit-taking among long-position holders. Silver, which carries both financial and industrial attributes, experienced larger price swings than gold.
