Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ: HOOD) announced on July 1 it set a Guinness World Record for the most items purchased by an artificial intelligence agent in three minutes. The announcement was made during the company's 'Robinhood Presents: The Earth is Flat' event at the Old Royal Naval College in London. The record was achieved using Robinhood's Agentic Trading platform and AI-powered spending features, which allow users to delegate investing and shopping decisions to an AI assistant. Robinhood is a commission-free trading platform founded in 2013 by Vladimir Tenev and Baiju Bhatt, offering stocks, options, and cryptocurrency trading including Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), with its crypto capabilities expanded through the 2025 acquisition of exchange Bitstamp.
The record relied on Robinhood's Agentic Credit Card, a virtual card tied to a Robinhood Gold Card account that enables an AI agent to shop and complete transactions on a user's behalf. Cardholders set spending rules including per-purchase limits and manual approval requirements before activating the agent. The agent scans for optimal prices, tracks product availability, and completes purchases automatically while earning 3% cash back on every transaction.
CEO Vladimir Tenev stated in May when the platform launched: "Our mission has always been to democratize finance for all, and now, that mission extends to AI agents." The Agentic Trading rollout is launching in beta with equities only, with support for crypto, options, event contracts, and futures planned as the product matures.
Robinhood launched Robinhood Chain's public mainnet alongside a slate of trading and lending products built on the blockchain. Seong Seog Lee, Senior Director of Product Management at Robinhood, announced a new user experience called "Maker/Taker Orders" for crypto traders in the United States, allowing users to offer liquidity on the platform with zero percent fees.
Jordan Sinclair, President of Robinhood UK and General Manager of Bitstamp UK, revealed that crypto trading is now available for users in the United Kingdom. Robinhood has also expanded to Canada and obtained its license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore. HOOD stock was up 8.35% intraday to trade near $108.65 at press time.
