Samsung SDI Inks $6.7B EV Battery Supply Deal with Mercedes-Benz

Gate News message, April 20 — Samsung SDI signed a multiyear agreement with Mercedes-Benz to supply high-nickel EV batteries for the carmaker’s next-generation vehicles, marking the South Korean company’s first battery supply partnership with Mercedes-Benz.

While Samsung SDI did not disclose the contract value, estimates place it at approximately 10 trillion won (US$6.7 billion). The agreement includes collaboration on future mobility solutions and next-generation battery technology development.

Samsung SDI confirmed that its Hungary manufacturing plant will supply the batteries under the deal and denied speculation about establishing a new production facility in Europe.
