According to Seoul Economics, SK Hynix signaled on July 10 that it is considering building a memory chip manufacturing facility in the United States, in addition to its ongoing advanced packaging facility in Indiana. SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won said in a CNBC interview during the company's Nasdaq debut ceremony in New York that a memory factory could be constructed if conditions including power, water, workforce, and supply chain are met, with potential investments reaching hundreds of billions of dollars. Additionally, SK Hynix CEO Kwak Noh-jung predicted that 2027 would be the most difficult year in industry history from a supply perspective, with memory shortages potentially extending beyond 2030.
