According to The Korea Times, SK Telecom signed a memorandum of understanding with South Korea’s Defense Ministry yesterday (May 14) to develop and test a defense AI model based on its A.X K1 foundation model under the country’s national AI initiative.
The partnership also includes GPU resource support from the ministry in the second quarter, with SK Telecom providing open defense data as part of the collaboration. This marks the first defense use case approved under the government program.
