South Korea's Finance Official Holds Talks with U.S. Treasury Amid Won Weakness at 1,500 Per Dollar

According to Jin10, citing Korea Herald and South Korea's Finance Authority, the country's Finance Ministry official met with U.S. Treasury officials on June 12 to discuss the recent weakness of the Korean won, which has been trading around 1,500 per U.S. dollar. The official emphasized that the won's recent depreciation was difficult to justify given South Korea's sound economic fundamentals, particularly in the semiconductor sector, and appeared excessive. Both sides agreed to maintain close communication and cooperation to address the won's depreciation pressure.
