SpaceX Options Set U.S. Record with 2M Contracts Traded on First Day, Up 49.5% Since IPO

According to MarketWatch, SpaceX options set a record for the largest first-day trading volume in U.S. options market history on Tuesday (June 16), with approximately 2 million contracts traded. This surpassed Meta's previous record of 364,000 contracts set in 2012, according to Cboe Global Markets executives. Henry Schwartz, Cboe's derivatives market intelligence vice president, noted the opening hour saw roughly 10,000 contracts traded per minute.

SpaceX stock closed at $201.80 on Tuesday, up 49.5% from its $135 IPO price and 4.8% on the day. Market data from FactSet showed investors favored bullish positions, with a put-to-call ratio of approximately 0.7, indicating call volume exceeded puts by about 30%.
