SpaceX will release its first post-IPO earnings report on August 4, according to IPO lock-up rules, which will simultaneously trigger the first tranche of insider share unlock. Up to 911.5 million shares may become eligible for sale, representing 20% of locked-up holdings. The unlock mechanism comes as SpaceX stock has declined nearly 43% from its June peak of $211.39, amid mounting short positions that now approach one-third of public float.
The phased unlock approach aims to prevent simultaneous mass selling that could trigger sharp market disruption. SpaceX went public in June at $135 per share, raising $85.7 billion in the largest IPO on record.
