Sygnum Becomes First Swiss Regulated Bank to Deploy AI Agents in Live Blockchain Transactions

Sygnum became the first Swiss regulated bank to test AI agents executing live digital asset transactions on blockchain while maintaining full client control of private keys, custody, and transaction approval. The AI agent independently processes plain-text client instructions to plan and prepare multi-step blockchain transactions before presenting actions for final client authorization. The pilot uses Anthropic's Claude model and Model Context Protocol infrastructure. Thomas Frei, Head of AI at Sygnum, stated the development demonstrates how regulated banks can provide agent-driven execution speed and convenience without surrendering asset control or governance standards.
