According to The Information, Tesla notified employees on July 3 that effective July 6, it will cap weekly AI tool usage costs at $200 per employee, requiring approval for overages. Previously, engineers' weekly AI costs routinely reached thousands of dollars. Over the past six months, Tesla has promoted an internal AI platform called "Bottle Rocket," integrating models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and xAI, shifting from decentralized to company-level management of AI resource spending.
