Tesla Robotaxi Shows 90% Lower Serious Accident Rate Than Human Drivers

According to Bank of America Securities analyst Alexander Perry, Tesla Robotaxi data shows a serious accident rate approximately 90% lower than human drivers. Tesla experiences a reportable accident every 101,000 miles and has not reported any serious injury accidents to date, while human drivers average one serious accident per 1.9 million miles. Perry noted that Waymo's autonomous vehicles show one reportable accident per 108,000 miles, with serious accidents occurring once per 19.3 million miles. As of June 16, Tesla's Robotaxi fleet in the U.S. comprised 69 vehicles across 4 cities, with consumer trust in autonomous vehicles improving slightly, as 47% of consumers still fully distrust the technology.
