According to CCTV, on July 24, two small U.S. enterprises filed lawsuits against the International Trade Court, challenging tariff hikes of 10%-12.5% imposed on dozens of countries under the pretense of combating forced labor. The plaintiffs argued that the government failed to provide sufficient factual findings to justify the broad tariff application and that the measure exceeds the government's statutory authority under Section 301 of the 1974 Trade Act. The lawsuit also noted that applying Section 301 to dozens of countries simultaneously has no historical precedent.
