UAE Nuclear Plant Targeted by Drone Strikes in Past 48 Hours, Calls for UN Security Council Response

According to Bloomberg, the Barakah nuclear power plant in the United Arab Emirates came under unmanned drone attacks in the past 48 hours, UAE UN envoy Mohamed Abushahab told the Security Council. He stated the strikes originated from Iraqi territory and called for a "clear, unified and strong" UN Security Council response to attacks on civilian nuclear facilities.

Abushahab emphasized that such threats represent a "red line" for the UAE. The Barakah plant currently operates safely and supplies up to 25% of the country's clean electricity.
