UN Security Council Terminates Review of Iran's Nuclear Program, Chinese Envoy Announces on June 9

According to Xinhua, on June 9, China's deputy permanent representative to the UN Sun Lei announced that the UN Security Council has terminated its review of Iran's nuclear program. Sun Lei noted that the Security Council has never reached consensus on whether the E3 (UK, France, and Germany) has the authority to trigger the snapback sanctions mechanism. He added that UN Security Council Resolution 2231 expired and terminated on October 18 last year.
