U.S. 30-Year Treasury Yield Hits 5.09% Yesterday, Extends 17-Day Streak Above 5%

According to Yonhap Infomax, the U.S. 30-year Treasury yield hit 5.09% overnight on July 29, extending a 17-trading-day streak above the 5% level. This marks the longest such streak since July 2007, and Treasury yields have surpassed 5% a total of 32 times this year alone, setting the highest annual record since 2007. Long-term government bond yields have also risen across major developed economies, driven by factors including higher oil prices, resilient economic data, and sustained increases in government debt.
