U.S. and Iran Expected to Sign Memorandum of Understanding on June 14, Restart Hormuz Strait Shipping

According to Jin10, U.S. Defense Secretary Hegsetis stated on June 14 that the United States and Iran remain on track to sign a memorandum of understanding on the same day to restart cargo transit through the Strait of Hormuz and lift U.S. blockade measures on Iranian ports. Hegsetis said the agreement would be based on compliance, meaning no funds would be released to Iran until it fulfills its commitments. Following the signing, both nations will have 60 days to negotiate longer-term peace arrangements and the termination of Iran's nuclear program.
