U.S. Central Command Warns of Military Operations Near Hormuz Strait on May 29; 115 Vessels Forced to Change Course

According to Odaily, on May 29, the U.S. Central Command warned it would conduct military operations near the Strait of Hormuz and strike vessels involved in or supporting mine-laying activities in self-defense. The command stated via the Joint Maritime Information Center that Iran continues to obstruct minesweeping operations and safe passage through the strait. Any vessel found participating in mine-laying activities could become a target of U.S. military action. The U.S. military also confirmed it maintains ongoing maritime blockade measures against Iran, which has forced 115 commercial vessels to alter their routes as of May 29.
