U.S. Confirms Second Screwworm Case in Texas Calf on June 6

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, reported by Jin10, a second case of screwworm infestation was confirmed in a calf in Texas on June 6. The parasitic fly poses a threat to the U.S. beef industry amid concerns of wider outbreak.

Georgia's Department of Agriculture announced it will restrict livestock and pet shipments from several Texas counties in response. The USDA stated screwworm does not threaten U.S. food supply, and approved medications for treatment are being shipped to Texas this week.
