US Delays Blacklisting DeepSeek and 100+ Chinese Companies Including CXMT

DEEPSEEK-1.72%
According to Reuters, the US has delayed adding Chinese AI firm DeepSeek and ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT), China's leading memory chipmaker, along with more than 100 other companies to the Commerce Department's Entity List. An interagency committee approved the moves last year, but the Trump administration has postponed the decision to avoid escalating tensions with Beijing. The Entity List requires licenses for exports of specified US items to listed entities, and such licenses are typically denied. DeepSeek gained global attention after launching a low-cost AI model in January 2025. CXMT was also designated a Chinese military company by the Pentagon under the Biden administration.
