U.S. Delegation Not Attending Iran Talks in Oman, Will Maintain Contact Remotely

According to U.S. officials on July 10 and 12, American negotiators will not travel to Oman to attend direct talks with Iran. The U.S. technical team will not be present on site but will maintain contact with Oman and Qatar as developments unfold. Additionally, U.S. officials stated that Iran did not commit to halting attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz as the American side had anticipated. According to Iranian sources, Oman and Iran officials discussed a 'vessel safe passage mechanism' and emphasized Oman's commitment to preventing regional tension escalation through diplomatic channels.
