U.S. Economic Activity and Inflation Rise on June 4, ECB Set to Hike Deposit Rate to 2.25% on June 11

According to the Federal Reserve's Beige Book released on June 4, U.S. economic activity and inflation have both risen in recent weeks. Separately, a Reuters survey of 80 economists shows 74 now expect the European Central Bank to raise its deposit rate to 2.25% on June 11, up from 59 out of 70 economists in the May survey. Meanwhile, Reuters reports Japanese central bank officials are considering a rate hike in June with potential further adjustments, as the Bank of Japan continues its gradual policy tightening based on economic and price developments.
