U.S. Military Fires on Palau-Flagged Tanker in Strait of Hormuz on June 8, Disables Vessel

According to Jin10 and U.S. Central Command, the U.S. military on June 8 fired on and disabled a Palau-flagged tanker in the Strait of Hormuz after it refused to comply with U.S. orders. The vessel, an empty tanker heading toward Iranian ports, was struck by an F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet from the USS Lincoln aircraft carrier using precision-guided weapons. U.S. Central Command stated the tanker violated U.S. blockade orders. Since April 13, the U.S. military has disabled seven commercial vessels and forced 134 ships to change course in the region.
