Zhipu Opens GLM-5.2 as Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 Banned Within 72 Hours of U.S. Launch

According to Paukraiya News, Chinese AI company Zhipu announced full access to its GLM-5.2 model on June 13 at 17:21 Beijing time across Lite, Pro, Max, and team versions. The company described GLM-5.2 as its strongest open-source model to date, supporting true 1M context window and excelling in long-context coding tasks. API access is expected next week, with open-source release to follow.

The announcement came as Anthropic's flagship Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models faced immediate ban. According to Anthropic, the U.S. government issued an export control directive on June 12 at 5:21 p.m. local time, requiring the company to cut all non-U.S. citizens' access to both models within 72 hours of their public launch. Anthropic stated the decision was based on "serious misunderstandings."
