The Lesson That Made My Heart Stop That Night
I started my trading adventure with limited savings. While learning market patterns, every small profit filled me with hope. Watching charts in the morning, looking for opportunities at night became my daily routine. I kept discipline with small trades, gradually gaining experience. As my funds grew, I gained more confidence.
But everything suddenly changed. That unforgettable night, I firmly believed that the main asset would hold at a certain support level. I carefully studied historical data and opened a position with high leverage. Initially, the price rose slightly, and I felt victory was within reach, feeling very excited.
Then the storm hit. The price dropped rapidly, red candles one after another. My heartbeat raced, and my hands trembled. I told myself, “This is just a temporary correction; the support will hold.” But the price still broke through the support level. The liquidation point was getting closer. At that moment, I froze, unsure whether to sell or wait. My mind went blank, and emotions completely took over me. In the end, I lost all my savings.
That night, I will never forget. The coffee had gone cold long ago. I sat staring at the screen for hours. The pain was not just about money, but also about my own weaknesses. Overconfidence, lack of protective measures, being driven by emotions—these pushed me to this point.
The next morning, I took a deep breath and re-evaluated everything. I realized that the biggest enemy in the market is not outside, but within myself.
From that day on, I firmly remembered the rules:
Always determine the risk before each trade, using only a small portion of total funds. Keep leverage at a low level. Set stop-loss points before entering, and exit immediately when reached. I also write down failure points in advance, so if the price hits there, I change direction.
These rules allowed me to start over. I no longer focus on just one trade but study different assets and pay attention to fundamentals. Patience became my strongest weapon. I learned to take small steps on a long journey.
That night’s experience gave me the most expensive but most valuable lesson: in the market, survival is more important than making money. Because those who survive still have a chance tomorrow. With increased knowledge and discipline, success will naturally come.
On this journey, every loss is a teacher, every victory a reminder. True success is writing your own story and learning from it.
Now I start each new day with this lesson in mind. I have become stronger, clearer, and better prepared.
Share your own turning point; maybe it will light the way for others.
