According to ChainCatcher reports, the Quantum Doomsday Clock indicates that quantum computers could crack Bitcoin’s encryption system by March 8, 2028. Studies suggest that breaking ECC-256 requires only 1,673 logical qubits, while RSA-2048 needs 2,314.

IBM Chief Technology Officer Michael Osborne stated that the growth rate of quantum risk is exceeding expectations, and IBM’s Starling project plans to build a fault-tolerant quantum computer by 2029. Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko warned that blockchain networks must migrate to quantum-resistant encryption technologies within five years.
