Federal Reserve's Kashkari: Waller is fully qualified to serve as Federal Reserve Chair

BlockBeats News, February 19 — FOMC voting member and Minneapolis Fed President Kashkari stated that Kevin Warsh is fully qualified to serve as Federal Reserve Chair. He has consistently been outspoken about his views on the Fed and looks forward to upcoming discussions. Additionally, it remains uncertain whether the Fed can reduce its balance sheet without fundamental changes.

Furthermore, according to PolyBeats monitoring, although the White House has officially announced that Trump will nominate Kevin Warsh as the next Fed Chair, on February 13 the White House reiterated that it is preparing Warsh’s nomination. Currently, in the market on Polymarket regarding “Who will Trump nominate as Fed Chair,” the probability of Warsh being officially nominated has dropped from 99.7% to 95%. The probability that Trump will appoint Judy Shelton as the next Fed Chair has increased to 4-5%.

BlockBeats Note: Judy Shelton has long criticized the U.S. Federal Reserve and has specifically supported a return to some form of gold standard, hoping for a greater role for gold in the monetary system. In July 2019, Trump nominated her to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, but her strong criticism of current Fed policies ultimately prevented her from passing Senate approval. Even if Kevin Warsh’s nomination as Fed Chair falls through, Judy Shelton is unlikely to become a potential candidate.
