Gate News message, April 22 — Google is consolidating AI coding tools under its Antigravity platform as internal concerns grow that the company is trailing Anthropic and OpenAI in software development capabilities. The move addresses fragmentation in Google’s Gemini capabilities, which are currently spread across multiple products, creating overlap and unclear priorities.
According to Bloomberg, some Google teams, including parts of DeepMind, currently use Anthropic’s Claude Code due to its strengths in reasoning across large software projects. Antigravity and other internal tools have seen strong adoption, with Alphabet reporting that AI now accounts for approximately 50% of the company’s new code. DeepMind has also formed a new AI coding team as demand rises for tools that help businesses write and debug code more efficiently.
