Just diving into something interesting about Ethereum's founding story. You know, when ETH launched back in 2015, there were 8 co-founders who built this whole thing from scratch during 2013-2014. Starting with 72 million ETH, they collectively hold about 11.9 million ETH or roughly 16.53% of the total supply.
What caught my attention is how different their paths diverged after that. Obviously Vitalik Buterin is the face of it all—authored the white paper, holding around 630,000 ETH, now worth over 1 billion USD. He's been pushing Dencun and Prague upgrades, really focused on scalability and privacy. But then you've got Gavin Wood, who wrote the yellow paper and created Solidity, and he basically left to build Polkadot and Kusama. Now he's sitting on roughly 450,000 ETH through Parity Technologies.
Charles Hoskinson did something similar—founded Cardano in 2017 and now runs IOHK, holding around 400,000 ETH. Joseph Lubin went the ConsenSys route, building MetaMask and Infura, and recently got involved with Linea. His company holds about 837,000 ETH, personal wealth estimated at 4.5-5.5 billion USD.
But here's what's interesting—Amir Chetrit represents a different kind of early investor story. He was there at the beginning but apparently had limited involvement or contributions, so he exited back in 2014. Unlike the others who went on to build major ecosystems, Amir Chetrit took a quieter approach, supporting smaller crypto projects discreetly over the years. It's a reminder that not every early player stays in the game.
Anthony Di Iorio is another one—early investor who founded Decentral and the Jaxx wallet, but shifted focus to health and charity after 2019. Still holding 50,000-100,000 ETH without selling. Then there's Mihai Alisie, VP of the foundation, co-founded Bitcoin Magazine with Vitalik, now focusing on Akasha and blockchain policy in Europe. And Jeffrey Wilcke, who developed Go-Ethereum, moved into blockchain games after 2017 and has been gradually reducing his position through strategic sales.
What's wild is how these 8 founders basically created a 400+ billion USD ecosystem. Each one went their own direction but they all stayed connected to blockchain innovation. Right now, ETH is sitting at around 2,050 USD, down 0.15% in the last 24 hours. There's been a lot of chatter about whether ETH can push past 5,000 USD this cycle. ADA is trading at 0.24 USD (-1.01%), and DOT is at 1.23 USD (-1.92%). Personally, I'm watching to see if this month brings any major moves. The founder narrative is cool, but ultimately the market speaks louder.
