According to Clarin and a draft bill prepared by Deregulation Minister Federico Sturzenegger, Argentina is proposing sweeping changes to modernize its capital markets by integrating digital assets and blockchain technology.

The bill allows investment funds to invest in digital assets, potentially unlocking billions in new demand. It also approves full tokenization of negotiable securities for issuance, custody, and transfer using decentralized technologies, enabling faster and cheaper stock market operations. Additionally, digital assets like bitcoin would be recognized as collateral for loans, while smart contracts gain full legal recognition for automated payments, mortgages, and foreclosures without judicial intervention.
