According to Kalshi prediction market data, Bitcoin is less than 100,000 blocks away from its next halving, expected around April or May 2028. The network currently sits past the 950,000-block mark, with roughly 100,000 blocks remaining until the reward reduction at block 1,050,000.
When the halving occurs, the miner block subsidy will fall from 3.125 BTC to 1.5625 BTC, further slowing new Bitcoin issuance. Based on current block production rates, trackers such as CoinGecko and IG estimate the event is approximately 700 days away. This will be Bitcoin's fifth programmed reward halving since the network's inception.
