DOJ Warns Prosecutors: Binance Expected to Reduce Cooperation on Crypto Cases

According to The Information, on July 9, the U.S. Department of Justice sent an internal memo in early June to prosecutors handling digital currency cases, cautioning them to expect reduced cooperation from Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange. The memo, issued by DOJ digital currency counsel Rachel Jones, stated that Binance would impose stricter requirements on asset freeze and seizure requests from law enforcement. However, Binance denied the assertion, with a spokesperson telling The Information: "Binance's cooperation with U.S. law enforcement has not changed and will not change. Any claims that Binance has reduced or is reducing cooperation with enforcement agencies are false."
