Dow Hits Record 51,999 on Oil Crash Below $80, Nasdaq Slips 1.9% on Tech Weakness

The Dow Jones hit a record high of 51,999.67 on Tuesday, gaining 0.6%, driven by industrial and bank stocks as oil prices extended their decline to below $80 per barrel—the first time since March. The S&P 500 fell 0.1% to 7,548.60, while the Nasdaq 100 dropped 1.9% to 29,968.13 amid weakness in technology stocks.

Brent crude futures fell 5% to under $80 per barrel, with U.S. West Texas Intermediate declining 5% to around $75 per barrel, calming inflation concerns ahead of the Federal Reserve's policy decision due Wednesday. Caterpillar rose more than 2% and JPMorgan Chase advanced over 3%. SpaceX climbed nearly 5% on its third trading session since its Nasdaq debut last Friday.
