Eternal to Cap Foreign Ownership at 49.5%, Subject to Shareholder Approval

GateNews

According to The Economic Times, Eternal, the parent company of quick commerce platform Blinkit, announced it will cap foreign ownership at 49.5% pending shareholder approval. The move would allow Eternal to qualify as Indian-owned-and-controlled, enabling Blinkit to legally hold inventory under India’s foreign investment rules. Domestic ownership reached 55% as of March 31, 2026, following the company’s November 2024 placement of 85 billion rupees (US$900 million) backed mainly by domestic mutual funds.
