Family of 76-Year-Old Woman Sues Tesla After Model 3 Crashes Into Home, Kills Occupant

The family of a 76-year-old woman has filed a lawsuit against Tesla after a Model 3 sedan, allegedly operating the company's driving assistance software, crashed into her home near Houston, Texas, resulting in her death. According to the lawsuit, Tesla's autonomous driving technology failed to detect the road's end and did not brake in time before striking the brick residence. The suit also alleges false advertising by Tesla regarding its technology capabilities.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced a special crash investigation into the incident. Tesla is currently facing more than a dozen lawsuits linking fatal car crashes to technology defects.
