According to Gallup poll reported by Jin10, Russian citizens' economic sentiment reached its most pessimistic level in at least 20 years, based on a survey conducted from March 14 to May 6. The poll of 1,000 Russians showed 60% believe their city or region's economic situation is deteriorating, while only 27% see improvement and 9% see no change. Regarding living standards, 56% reported conditions are worsening, 29% see improvement, and 14% see no change. The survey captured pessimism that had already set in before June's fuel supply crisis, when Ukraine escalated strikes on Russian refineries, causing gasoline shortages across multiple regions.
