Gas Explosion at Shanxi Coal Mine Kills 8 Workers, 38 Unaccounted for on May 22

According to Sichuan County Emergency Management Bureau, a gas explosion occurred at Liushenyu coal mine operated by Tongzhou Group on May 22 at 7:29 p.m., with 247 workers on shift underground. As of 6 a.m. on May 23, 201 workers have safely exited the mine, 8 have been confirmed dead, and 38 remain unaccounted for in ongoing rescue operations. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
