According to HCLTech, on July 24, the company plans to establish a $1.48 billion AI data center in Odisha with Sarvam, an India-based sovereign AI startup, and the state government. The facility will be a 50-megawatt AI-optimized center leveraging HCLTech's AI stack and Sarvam's foundation models for public and private-sector applications, serving as a state AI public utility for mining, heavy industry, and skills development.
HCLTech separately signed a memorandum of understanding with Odisha to set up a Global Technology Center in Bhubaneswar, designed to house 5,000 employees and expected to begin operations by 2028.
