Hong Kong to Establish International Commercial Court for Cross-Border Disputes with Mainland Enforcement

According to Hong Kong Judiciary, the judicial authority announced plans to establish the Hong Kong International Commercial Court under the High Court to handle large-scale, complex international and cross-border commercial disputes. Judgments rendered by the court will be enforceable on mainland China. The court will operate under existing legal frameworks provided by the High Court Ordinance and High Court Rules, with detailed procedural guidelines to be issued covering case categories, streamlined litigation processes, flexible appeal mechanisms, and the use of technology including remote hearings and electronic filing to enhance judicial efficiency.
